The guardians of sanctity, purveyors and protectors of Caeleste; the Yin to the Seraphic Yang, they tend to be the bridges between Caeleste and the outside world.Ophanim -- -- -- Singular = Ophan. They are the inciters of judgement, determining the fates of the fallen or wayward, and are often relentless in their visions despite a general passive nature.Erelim Hesperian -- Singular = Arel. Executioners to the Ophanim jury. As fearless and fast as they are valiant and steadfast, they render swift judgement unto whomever are decreed.
Hashmallim6-7 -- Singular = Hashmal. Deliverers of the divine word, these individuals rarely present themselves to outsiders, instead delegating duties to the lower ranks. This is often the highest any will ever ascend, as the sixth and seventh rites can take a lifetime to complete. While here, a Hashmal may train under whichever high rank they intended to take up, should they complete their Holy Orders.Archmalakhim4-5 Lyra -- Singular = Archmalakh. Unlike the Malakhim, whose focus lies primarily on the development of the individual self, Archmalakhim can only ascend once interpersonal development is perfected, and humility and diligence are mastered.Malakhim1-3 -- Singular = Malakh. Upon completing the first rite individuals are given this rank, and keep it through completion of Communion, if that time ever comes.
Nephilim -- Singular = Naphil. Reserved only for those born in or of Caeleste; children of stationed Gregori or with at least one parent in Caeleste are considered Nephilim until either they graduate to Malakhim or they reach sixth months of age and choose to reject the title. |

The Sacraments/RitesProgression in Caeleste is based around progress - whether of the individual or their views and place in society. Based on the seven heavenly virtues, there are seven general rites that can be completed, upon which an individual may enter the Zodiac, where they are immortalized in the stars, raised to sainthood for their accomplishments. See here for more depth about particular Sacraments.DamnationJust as one can ascend well in Caeleste, one can descend. Though open and forgiving - wont to see the best in others - they do not turn a blind eye to evil. Punishment is equivalent to crimes committed; damnation comes swift and relentlessly to the damned. See here for more depth about particular sins.The GregoriOr "Watcher" in singular form - may be assigned in only two ways. Either the individual chooses to become a Watcher once the proper requirements are met, or they are cast out of society as punishment for a crime. Either way, the Gregori are meant to exist outside of Caeleste society, for a usually-specified span of time, depending on the reason they attained the title. It is not a rank, so the individual retains their assigned rank (e.g. Archmalakh or Malakh). They are often given a specific station to work on (whether a trusted or potential ally/pack, a chosen area or individual, etc.), though some cases are given free reign to go where they please, so long as they remain outside of Caeleste. They are also usually given or expected to be undertaking specific tasks during this time, to be reported back by a previously-established set of means.
Trials and TribulationsThe Fall - when an angel loses their wings. Caeleste is a safe harbor for those who need it, giving second chances freely and happily; however, their must be a balance of retribution. This must be carried out by a member of the Zodiac; preferably either an Arel or the Οὐρανίας herself. It must come as result of a crime most heinous, as those Fallen cannot come within sensation (sight, sound, or scent) of the furthest Caeleste borders, nor can they interact with any members, Gregori, or allies. The ONLY exception to this is if they have been approved as a target for holy orders. If these orders are broken, physical punishment may be enacted to cripple the fallen and prevent them from trespassing orders again. |
