Regions and Territory Claims
See side box #1 for quick list of regions and their statuses.
All regions can be claimed except for the caves,
which can only be traversed and not claimed; there is not a sufficient amount of resources therein to be sustainable to any group.
In order to claim a territory, a group must:
have at least 3 members
Roleplay the claiming of it.
Your character can only claim where they have been - if you wish to claim an entire Region, you must explore the entire region.
That's it. Easy enough, right?
In order to claim a territory already claimed: a.k.a. takeover, a group must:
Enter the territory, which is the first board in each region.
You cannot suddenly appear in the heart of claimed territory as though you could go unnoticed for the days/weeks it would take to get there (even from a neighboring territory).
Roleplay the claiming of it, during which you will likely be contested by the current owner(s).
Whether a bidding, fight, trade, or otherwise occurs, how you(r character{s}) handle the situation will be different for everyone.
FaQ
Can I claim only part of a Region?
Yes! Regions are very large, and especially for smaller groups, it is unlikely they would be able to regularly patrol and keep an entire Region. You better hope you like your neighbors, however, should you choose only part of a land.
Is there a certain activity level necessary to keep a territory?
Yes and no; a territory will not be revoked by OoC means from a group; however, if a group is found to be inactive for an extended period of time and another group attempts to claim the territory, they may forfeit their chance at contesting the claim by default. A couple posts per character a week is not too large a request; obviously, the larger the territory claimed, the more roleplay necessary to keep it. You don't need to post a particular amount for any reason, but if you wish to keep a territory, your character has to reasonably exist and live in it.
